Almost every young girl dreams of how their wedding is going to be and more often than not that dream wedding is lavish and filled with anything and everything a girl could hope for. While there are those girls who grow up and end up having their dreams come true, there are also those who grow up and wake up to the reality that fantasies are often very expensive and the journey of how to plan a wedding on a tight budget must begin as soon as the wedding proposal is made.
Now, a wedding on a budget does not necessarily have to mean that it needs to be the exact opposite of what one had in mind while growing up. Making the necessary adjustments to make sure that a wedding stays within a budget does not equate to having the ceremony in city hall and the reception in the neighborhood diner or nearby restaurant at the strip mall. This should be seen as an opportunity to be get those creative juices flowing and coming up with ideas may turn out better than what was probably originally imagined.
Once a budget is made, stick to it because coming up with excuses to keep adding on to it is what will make it bloated in no time and coming up with the funds to pay for everything will definitely spoil what is supposed to be one of the most important days in a couple's life. Yes, there are things that actually cost nothing.
Ask around and see if there are any members of either family or any friends that are able to provide services pro bono. There may be a photographer that the bride or groom may be related to or chummy with and they may be willing to handle that service for free. Same goes for other wedding and reception service providers such as a caterer, wedding coordinator, seamstress, make-up artist, and so on. If they are hesitant about offering their services for free, go ahead and ask if they can give you a family discount or a budget-friendly rate to help out.
Going for that personal touch may also help keep costs down. Designing and printing wedding invitations has never been easier, thanks to computers and the internet. Wedding souvenirs and tokens of appreciation can also be put together in one's home instead of paying a professional to do it. Keeping a wedding simple does not mean that it has to be boring nor does knowing how to plan a wedding on a tight budget result in agreeing to something just because it can be gotten for free. Do not sacrifice quality for savings but remember that quality does not have to be expensive.
