Things To Consider When Looking For Wedding Veils
By Jessica Marie V. Sullivan
After deciding on your wedding gown, the next thing you want to do is to find the right wedding veil for it. Wedding veils are not hard to find, but can be tough to choose, as there are so many types of veils that you can choose from. To help you make the right choice, here are some things you should consider:
Your Wedding Dress
Your wedding will greatly determine the length and style of your veil. If your wedding dress has a significant amount of embellishment or adornment, then you should opt for a simpler, classic veil without any embroidery or beadwork. Remember that you have to balance out your dress and accessories to look effortlessly elegant and beautiful.
The Shape of Your Face
Is your face round, oval, square-ish or heart-shaped? You may not notice it, your face's shape matters a lot in making you look good with a veil on. This is because your veil frames your face. For example, a round face is as wide as it is long. So, choose a veil that can make your face look longer and smaller. You might want to get a veil that has some volume on top of your head and at least shoulder length.
A square face is angular looking, so choose a veil that will soften your features. For someone with a rectangle face, choose a veil that has width around your face but has less volume on top of the head so as to achieve a better balance.
Your Hairstyle
If you are having a high bun for your hairstyle, choose a veil that is minimal in adornment and simple in design. Make sure to talk with your hair and make-up artist and discuss the best veil that would suit your potential hairstyle on your wedding day.
Wedding Location
Your wedding location also matters when making decisions on wedding veils. If you are getting married in a big church with a long aisle, a cathedral veil would be the perfect choice. If you are getting married in a small wedding venue, like a chapel, you might want to wear a chapel veil that is very similar to the cathedral veil but only a few inches shorter. If you are getting married by the beach, choose a fabric and texture that is soft and flowy, so as to reflect and complement the waves of the beach.
